William came to America with his father and brothers in 1774. His Revolutionary
Army Service, according to the National Archives was; enlisted in the
Virginia Service for one year on February 16, 1778; Private assigned to
guard duty at Carroll's Ferry from April to September 1778, while in Lt.
Col. Burges Ball's 9th Virginia Regt.; Private assigned to Camp
Middlebrook in Capt Charles Pellham's Co., Col Richard Parker's 1st
Virginia Regt. from Oct. 1778 until discharge in Feb. 1779. He was placed
on the list of Revolutionary Army pensioners in April, 1833. He was a
Baptist minister and moved with his family to Kentucky soon after his
marriage in 1780.
